Renaissance Fun
The purchase that keeps on giving
My family of four
Planned an adventurous day.
We would travel
To a Renaissance Fest two hours away.
*
The drive went smoothly,
We were ready for fun.
We all wore comfy shoes
With all the walking to be done.
*
We started with a show,
Which offered silliness galore.
Then, we wandered the shops,
Seeing the wares they had in store.
*
Each person got to choose
Just one item to buy.
My oldest chose a necklace
The youngest, a dress like blue sky.
My husband got a great big mug.
And to suit a music teacher like me?
I chose an ocarina,
Which looked like a chickadee.
Years later, it’s as good as new.
I got it out and played it once again.
I told my friend, "It's from a Ren Fest."
He said, "Who would have a festival for a wren?"
