Remnants

a finch poem

By Emily FernanPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

It is hard not to erase the words we once wrote about someone.

If we remove it, we can pretend it never happened.

But then what reminder would remain,

Of all that we endured and forced others to endure?

So for that I say;

Thank you for teaching me to love again.

I am sorry my heart is such a fickle thing,

A hummingbird that beats too fast.

You will find the one you deserve,

But I know it was never me.
