Regret of a Love That Was True

I sit and ponder on what could have been,

If only I held on to what I had within.

A love so pure, so bright and true,

But I let it go and now I'm feeling blue.

I remember the laughter, the joy we shared,

The memories of us, no longer there.

But all that's left is a heart filled with pain,

And the regret of letting love go in vain.

I thought I knew what was best for me,

But now I see the mistake I made and I can't be free.

I long to hold you once again,

But I know it's too late, love won't win.

I know I can never turn back time,

And the love I lost will forever be a crime.

So I'll hold on to these memories with care,

And hope someday the regret will repair.
