POEM: RAPE

WALKING BY THE SAME STREET PASSING EVERYDAY

ONE DAY I HAD SOME STRANGER'S DEBT TO PAY

NEITHER HAD THEY KNOWN ME OR HAD SOMETHING TO SAY

BUT I WAS APPROACHED AND DRAGGED AWAY

TREMBLING IN FEAR IN ALONE THE DARK CORNER

COULD NOT SHOUT OR SCREAM, I WAS A LONER

EVERYONE CAME AND SATISFIED THEIR LUST

I WAS TORN IN GROUND INTO PIECES AND DUST

STRANGLED TO DEATH AND THROWN AS A TRASH

REALITY WAS DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT AND HARSH

EVERYBODY LOOKED AT MY BODY WITH PITY IN THEIR EYES

I WAS BURIED WITH SOME MONEY AND LIES

PEOPLE HASN'T FORGOTTEN ME BUT JUSTICE NEVER RAISED

MY PARENTS ARE STILL FIGHTING AND ALWAYS CRIES

Forceful sexual assault is also known as rape is an inhuman crime tagging along in our day-to-day life. It has a major effect on victims' life and faces life-threatening problems. Most of the crime is hidden as nothing happened and it is lost in the darkness. The case file is closed unsolved with people with power and money. The ones who committed a crime are protected by law and the victim is ignored. Their reality is neither known by anyone and the made-up story is shown to the public. Society ignores the victims and supports the criminal. The public is played like a puppet and the powerful people control them.

It's perhaps unsurprising that international efforts to prevent sexual harassment have failed, given how frequently the legal system is biassed against women who report sexual violence. Some jurisdictions in the United States, for example, do not consider sexual assault by guards against female inmates to be a criminal offense. In Peru, some women were forced to give police summonses to their abusers, and in Pakistan, women were forced to deliver police summonses to their abusers. People are more eager to know and focus only on whether the victim was a virgin or not in forensic examination. In Pakistan, the judge dismissed the case as he felt the victim did not struggle much. Even though there is law people are more focused on their own judgment than finding the truth.

I live in a society where criminals think it is easier to rape as they have money and power they can control the life of innocent people. Even the laws bow down in front of them. Rapist acts as innocent and the victim is proven guilty by the law. Laws that are made to protect the victim are often sold by money and they protect the criminal and their guilt. The media that are made for the information are ready to publish any story for their points even it is false and the public is hypnotized they believe in everything they see and always ready for judgment.

In our society men are rarely warned not to assault or rape women in safety advice. Even if they do, the fixation on what the woman failed to do to defend herself protects them. Every woman is degraded, terrorized, and limited by the rape of one woman. Because of the threat of rape, most women and girls restrict their conduct. Rape is a threat to most women and girls. The majority of men do not. Even though many men do not rape, this is how rape works as a potent tool for holding the entire female population in slavery to the entire male population.

The victim of rape is never acknowledged in society, they are deprived of the freedom just because they are no longer virgin the eye of the society. Their past is dug time and again though it was not their fault nor they were the cause. They were never accepted by society nor by their family members. If a woman is raped people prioritize their past relations and raise their fingers towards their character rather than supporting and consoling her. Society becomes toxic for the victim to survive and they are left with no other option than to suicide. Even after death, they are always the topic to talk about. The victim is always compared with other women's life and their freedom is snatched and they are always reminded to behave and is a low powerless woman. This is the society we live in.
