"Most days I kick and scream for life"

Thoughts wrap their hands around my throat,

squeezing violently and unforgiving.

Most days I kick and scream for life,

but today, I fear I might lose this fight.

Do as others say – meditate, journal, go outside,

and everything will be okay – right?

But these thoughts continue like the tide,

always rising and falling, pulling me with them.

Sometimes they are a knife to the temple,

sometimes they are a mad buzzing.

Others will argue the case of moving on

because I cannot convince anyone something is wrong.

Whatever expression I wear, know this:

today, I am fighting.
