Perhaps it is in the mirror

The secrets of all that we seek

What you seek is seeking you, Rumi

I wrote this piece as a realisation that I had lived life searching for something, but I never quite knew what it was that I sought.

Little whispers washed over me now and then, seeking something from another pair of eyes, looking for an answer to an unknown question.

After much reflection, I considered that perhaps what it was I had been seeking was much closer than I had ever thought.

We can spend a long time trying to find and fulfil ourselves through external influences even getting lost under layers of conditioning that tell us everything we are meant to be, which can sometimes be quite different to who we are.

Some people go a lifetime being someone they are not to please other people.

Finding our authentic self can be quite a journey but, it is rarely one that will come with regret.
