Peanut M&M's
What would you do for peanut m&m's?
How dare little brother
Eat your peanut m&m's
He's too young, he doesn't
Know what you had to do
For those peanut m&m's
You sacrificed your bliss
For those peanut m&m's
Put out your wrists, allowed
The world to slit
For those peanut m&m's.
I remember all those late nights
You piecing together ends
To make everything seem alright
So long as we got around the bend
Sewing machine was on the bench,
AAA was on their way,
We wouldn't see a rainy day
If we just ignored the rain.
I remember all those late nights
I sat with you under bright lights
As you did the "right thing",
Drank from Pierian spring
In the classroom of a university
That didn't mind me
Because everyone in that classroom
Was going through the same thing.
I remember all those mornings
One bathroom, three young things
A young thing with young things
30 doesn't mean the same thing
These days. We were swept away
By necessity, mornings turned
To evening, exhausted rise
Exhausted sleep but it's worth it, right?
Right?
All the things you do
For some peanut m&m's
A whole slew hiding,
A jar of peanut m&m's
Necessary distance, to
Stop deserving fingers
From eating peanut m&m's
At a blasphemous rate.
Nowadays though, you can
Afford the peanut m&m's
Damn little brother though
Making you have to raise
Your weary bones
To buy more.
