Passion’s True Colours

Be thankful for the harsh truth, and that you can do something about it.

When you think about it,

Passion is like a monarch.

It tells you whom to believe,

Whose air you breathe,

What your life is about,

What you’ll die for,

And to whom you’ll

Take an oath.

With all these responsibilities,

You may feign presence,

But you’re always dreaming

Of attaining the unattainable.

There is no sense

In assuming a role

That will never be enough

For someone who’s supposed

To return your love,

Only because they feel it

And not because

You fulfill their conditions.

Should you pursue this passion

Further,

There can only be imbalance

That follows.

While they receive comfort, value,

And effort,

You’ll be left in shambles

With the deepest of wounds.

Passion is a thing of fairytales,

But even those come with

A caveat.

To struggle is to grow together,

Not to perpetuate the

Illusionary cycle of

Healing and aggravation.

Even when you learn of

Passion’s true colours,

You can still create

Your own rainbow.
