Part of the Voyage

Is the end

Travel on open sea,

waves crash into desires

you dream higher

with every chance

a turquoise glitter beckons

into what can become your life,

your heart,

if only seagulls take your love

to sunbeams and the night

unfolding in this sunshine.

***

A journey started long ago,

when you stepped inside mirror,

you saw your life

as it was,

dreamed of more,

fate set you on this voyage.

***

You took the wind

for friend,

twilight companion,

you added heart to whispers,

and the song

that keeps you on an island

away from home,

apart

from other people's wishes.

***

You help, you smile,

you strive

to be the one leaves want,

a spell descends in veins,

every breath comes alive

butterflies surround soul,

they step, dance

in sunlight.

***

How can it be so dark

when afternoon winks in a haze

have you drunk spell of wonder,

did you lose sight

of underworld

tentacles

that reach, choke

life out of sunny dreams,

turning love into anguish,

joy into hunger

for an end

to happiness.

***

Can you long for the pain,

an ordinary life,

no promise of a magic carpet

to take you far

above the crowd

are you happy on summer stream,

will you kiss forgiveness

in light,

abide under caressing promise

home is at peace

in soul

torment lies in a grave

of undead fall,

winter in sight.

***

Seasons of wishes come to play,

which will you choose,

which will you follow

in daylight?

Once darkness falls

love has no whispers,

left under starlight

you look back

was voyage worth half-life,

half-love,

is this end part of who

you are?
