Papa’s Little Girl

The Daughter's Wedding

Wedding Rings

It’s the day I always dreaded, but I knew that it would come;

The day you meet a nice young man, and know he is the one.

Because on that day I'll let you go, and though my heart will break;

I know I'll be happy for you, on this new step you take.

I'll try to smile as I say goodbye, I'll not let you see me cry;

To stop you going with your true love, hey! I'd rather die!

I know that you'll be happy; I know he'll care for you;

But I'm sure that I will shed a tear, when I hear you say, "I do!"

And so my darling daughter, as you start your brand new life,

I will be the first in line to congratulate the new Man and Wife.

I hope you will remember me, when your head’s not in a whirl,

And I pray you always bear in mind, you’re Papa’s little girl.
