Pandemic poem

Critique of the country

A country confined

To a world inside

Growing pandemic

Breeds fear in minds

Group think kills

Especially the grocery line

No, no, no

Don’t panic buy

You don’t need

That much stuff guy

You think toilet paper will die

From COVID-19?

You must be a fiend

For soup

Solely raising the stocks

Of Campbells

With your handfuls

Of cans, eggs too, beans, rice, milk, meat

Take everything you think that you need

Leave nothing for the others

Nothing for the mothers

Cause you hoarded so many diapers

So much formula

Like a pit of vipers

How will she feed her baby?

Keep it clean?

These are the times

When I see it clear

That we only got to here

By being smart monkeys

Because we get a whiff of fear

And act so senselessly

Fuck empathy; all apathy

Me, me, me

Is that all you think?

Not all are like this

Some are very clear minded

But to those who are sheep

Wake up from this apocalyptic

Mindset in which

You are kept,

No trapped,

By the market dominated forces

For who you are a puppet in

This capitalistic destituted god forsaken land

Wake up, wake up, wake up!

Open your eyes

And please realize

That our leaders, our figures

All wear a disguise

The evil hides within plain sight

That’s why most we hear is typically lies.

So if you really want to live your life

I recommend you only buy

The things you need,

Now stay inside, save others lives

And start to think,

About this country

Is it really and truly

The land of the free?

Of opportunity?

Or have you just been told

What you’re supposed to believe.
