Pandemic Babies
A dedication to my future grandson
Welcome world, oh the joy
Every newborn girl and boy
The angels rejoice with each new cry
Angels in heaven sing on high
To bless each soul in these times of strife
Celebrating this thing called life
Epidemic days are still ahead
“Do not fear” the preacher said
Put faith in God to lead the way
He is the sun on the darkest day
He is the laughter in all our tears
Guiding us through our woes and fears
Forging us to look straight ahead
With great emotion we bury our dead
Yet the light in the dark that leads the way
Birth of a child, each minute of each day
Our sign of hope for a better tomorrow
While mindful of our nation’s sorrow
We must hold on; a united strength
God will surely bless us at great length
All pregnant mothers, our hero’s; true
A cheer well deserved of all of you
Hours of labor we can suppose
Waiting to count ten fingers; ten toes
The peaceful look on a new babe’s face
Of mother’s memory will not erase
A connection for years and beyond
An instant mother and child bond
The greatest moment of pure joy
To welcome baby girl or boy

I need you, and your hands in mine. I need to see your late summer dusk filled eyes, shades of grey and blue that nature can barely imitate. Listen to you telling me to protect my hearing, when I need the music cranked to 11 and I turn the volume down; realizing your voice is all I need to hear.

Stuck in Place
Amy whistled as she walked through her front yard, looking for any sticks she could pick up and throw into the pile she and her brother were making. They had a big windstorm recently; as such, all the trees in their yard had suffered some damage in some loss of sticks. Or perhaps losing those sticks was a good thing since their trees probably needed to be pruned anyway. Amy wasn't sure.
