Our Crowns Deserve Better

A Poem about our black crowns

Pressing and the fear of water has gotten to

depressing

Our 4c damaged curls cling to life

As we try to get them to reach past our shoulders

Coconut oil and edge control will only do so much

Burning and feeling accepted in society can only last so long

Our crowns deserve better

Longer and not stronger is the goal

Curls that make young girls envy are the goal

Scalps that guys will approve of are the goal

What happen to guys type being shy and not 3a

What happen to enjoying the process of applying several jars of Cantu butter

Our crowns deserve better

They deserve to be loved and nurtured whether they hide under a frontal or are being attacked by the wind

They deserve to be kept alone and not picked out by our clueless friends

Our Crowns deserve better

We deserve better not only for what’s on our heads, but the thoughts inside them
