thoughts on defending our thoughts

Try and change my mind.

Tell me what you see

that I don’t.

Convince me with evidence,

hard facts and logic.

Morality, religion, and

standards we were taught

when we were young

why your opinion is right

and my thoughts are wrong.

Use your burning passion,

igniting flames within.

Fuel your fire so it grows

tall enough to burn

up your throat and out your mouth

and spit sparks at me.

Maybe they will burn

through my face and

into my brain,

destroying neural connections,

building ground for new ones.

New circuits that will tell me

that what you think is right.

What you think about this thought

that you so, so deeply care for.

That’s embedded in your brain

convincing you

to convince me.
