Once a Rough Man

A Poem

By Nicolae LesencoPublished 3 months ago 1 min read

Smooth as the light can be

Smooth as her and me

I saw her at the symphony

Gliding from friends to curious me

She was with another

But it wasn't a bother

Our journeys eventually met

And it's been an interesting time yet

Though our egos tough

And our times rough

Arguing until we huff and puff

And we've had enough

There are no more jagged edges of "I, I, I"

Just sanded hearts that are smooth and kInd

kInd to each other

kInd to the world

kInd to a mother

And a father so bold

Born a smooth baby bottom

Then dropped and roughed up

I stumbled through life

Until you polished me up

What a lucky gal. Love how the poem packs in so much in such a concise and touching way
