On the Edge of Insanity
Will there ever be peace again?
I look around me
And see a world
that is no longer familiar
****
As a child I was able
To run, play and sleep
Without a care
****
It was a world of comfort.
****
And yet, as I aged
I learned that not all others
Had such a carefree world
****
Even more shocking
Those "others"
Were not so distant
They were even in my own family tree
****
As time marched forward
More and more distance
Came between me and
My comfort zone in this world
****
Eventually, no comfort zone could be found
****
The world is fraught
With hatred
With bitterness
With malice
With evil
****
AND with fear
****
In my arc of life
I have gone from childhood innocence
To this place...
****
The edge of insanity
****
Wondering if ever again
There will be a time of peace
Before I am in the grave
