i hate this feeling

i hate feeling

like everything is broken

a mirror shattered

into tiny shards of glass

carelessly scattered into the carpet

that no one seems bothered to pick up

so the whole carpet is just thrown away

without a second reflection

the numbness

it overwhelms me

it consumes me whole

and i let it

i let it because i don’t know how else to feel

or how else to behave

to this plight

that i’m being force fed

with such paralyzing compulsion

that i just sit there

numb

to the shards of glass

that strain phantom tears from my face

rehearsed words from my mouth

and blue blood from my veins.
