Not Me
I am not me
I am the girl across the room
I am the girl with dark hair
blonde hair
blue hair
and everything in between
I am a scheme…
of my own making
stealing bits and pieces of this and that
that I stuff into my threadbare hat
trying to figure out
what I am all about
tossing off latent smiles
that fall awkwardly like crumbs
from my crowded thoughts
tied in random knots
trying so hard just to be
someone other than just me
So I am her
and I am you
I am not
who you thought
you always knew
