The sun sets over the horizon

Fading is the light

The night has made its debut

Oh that mysterious and frightening night!

The recognizable is replaced with strangeness

Strange sights and sounds grasp my attention

What do I see? What do I hear?

The night is filled with such deception.

An owl hoots, insects sing

A twig snaps somewhere near

My own shadow even frightens me

The night, it is the master of fear!

The sunrise can’t come soon enough

When it unmasks the night’s illusions with its light

What do I see? What do I hear?

Oh that mysterious and frightening night!
