Night's Tranquil

A comforting poem about the night

Lying in bed waiting for sleep

The night calms me with its solitude

the moon’s comforting glow

The melodic song of the crickets

All woven together like a tapestry

To perfectly complement each other

I close my eyes and listen

To night’s lullaby

Eyes grow heavy

Only to find comfort within the dark

The glow of the moon

Like a comforting blanket draped upon my body

Night’s lullaby finishes abruptly

By a maddening dash of felines

Playing their midnight games

I pull the covers up tightly and close my eyes

and wait again for night’s tranquil lullaby.
