It was greed that fed
A fire rampant
Through the forest
Of our little town,
A desire to grow
With little desire for effort,
A missing element
In the human world
Where we destroyed
The growth of nature,
Rerouted the springs,
The tree line
To meet desires
Not on our own,
Instead of working with earth
To achieve common ground
An outcome for all
Not one solitary,
A solution written in the stars,
But alas,
The human mind finds comfort
In the fire-
In creating a lesson to learn from
Instead of learning from those before,
Rewriting nature’s plan
With little study,
Thought correct based upon
A lack of research
A lack of design-
The fire ran away from them
To spread across,
Jumping from house to house
Until our kingdom was left-
And we wondered
When it would be next.
