The tides have changed

Hear the water like a drumbeat, it’s the dawn of a new age,

I can’t bury my head in the sand with you, accept my fate as a slave.

Each new tide brings a depression dressed as rage,

Coursing through my spirit to the beat of each newborn wave.

The changing current makes me want to run and go wild,

Barge and splash in the futile grasp of a slapping sea.

I want to disappear into the branches of mother earth like a child.

Gone are the days of swimming naively carefree.
