My Purpose

I usually write in the dead of the night

When everyone else is asleep

I love this time

When music is playing in my headphones

You’d think it’d be hard to focus on anything but the lyrics

However this is when the magic happens

When my best poems have been written because I wrestle the most with my demons

Or when I cry the hardest

And when my emotions are their strongest

But they serve a purpose

They’re not only there to signal something to me

They’re there to help me write

To extract the chaos going on in my head

And to put words to it all

I hope someday, these words will help others too
