I hated my name when I was younger
Because I shared it with so many others
And I hated my name when I was with you
Because it fell off your lips like bad words do
When you actually said it the term
Four letter word took on a whole new meaning
I dreaded the first small sound of it
No matter how far away you were
But now, now I love my name
It is said with excitement instead of disdain
In place of your burning summer
It is the light sound of long awaited rain
So take your bitterness and walk away
I don’t hate you
I just hate your name.
