I dreamt of how we’d do it

It would take some magic

And we might use up our allotment for this life

But I know it would be worth it

It would be a simple mood ring ceremony

In a Mystery House of natural anomalies

Tucked into a shady bend of a rolling river

Our son would be your best man

Our daughter my maid of honor

Our only witness would be an old gal named Estelle

In exchange, we would have to register Republican

And sign her petition to assassinate the President

Clint Black and Sheryl Crow would sing a prayer duet

Then I would carry you down to the country bar

Where we would kiss passionately

Once for every dollar stuck to the ceiling

Then we would climb into an inflatable kayak

And let the river take us

We would float past a huge reception of our families

Wondering where we were

With drunken serenades and a mighty fight out back

Then our river, knowing our hearts

Would drift us into a secluded meadow

Where we would go ashore

And lie in solitude together

Wrapped in a warm, soft quilt

Under a shady oak

After that we wouldn’t care what happened

For our souls would be one

And whatever complications the world could devise

We’d face them together
