Laying In Bed Beside Me

Laying in bed at 4 am

Hailstones pelting my window frame

Awakened from a nightmare

I turn over, and you are there

***

Sleeping soundly beside me

Your snores make me smile

I would never tell you of your night-time Sounds

One of my few white lies

***

Your body heat and sleeping smile

Drive the demons away,

That often keeps me up all night

When you are not around

***

I love you for your loving ways

And your caring innate spirit

Your beauty and you’re loving eyes

Make my life worthwhile

***

As the storm rages outside

And my nightmares take hold

When they awake me one more night

My fears you easily dissipate

***

To spoon and hug you, my sweet love

Your beauty and your poise

To awake after a great nights sleep

With you my life’s great joy
