My Battle, Your Battle!
“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.” ― Ian McLaren
At some point on our journey, we begin to realize the danger of making assumptions.
We start to realize the answers aren’t always on people’s faces;
Or their dispositions!
That angry man in traffic might be grieving.
Sassy Sally may have a shitload of problems;
But her sassiness has misled us all
“Why does Joe carry that scowl?” Joe has shitty in-laws.
“What about Mary, why can’t she stop fidgeting?”
Mary has anxiety disorders and fidgeting tells that story!
Her son is autistic and her phone might ring anytime soon!
Oh, the human condition…
We wish for Utopia.
We long for fairy tales.
We yearn for evil to vanish.
We hope things could be simpler;
But they aren't…
It's complicated.
Rarely black and white stories;
Plenty of grey areas,
Lots of it.
Everyone has their fair share;
Some small, some large, others complex.
Some were born into it, others walked into theirs,
Some are self-inflicted;
And there are those we can't explain.
Everyone finds a way to deal
Some show it in their scowls,
Others in their smiles;
Others in habits we don’t understand.
Some win their battles;
Only to have another waiting.
Some others lose even before they start.
Some take the battle and divide it into bits.
For every one they win, they do a ‘victory dance’!
Whichever or whatever, no one escapes until they are six feet under…
