Movie Night

A poem of bereavement...

MOVIE NIGHT

In the elegant wisps of fluttering slides

I see you a million times within an instant

As I try to focus on each image the embers roll and rescind the sight that sustained my heartbeat

How cold their consumption, these ravenous flames

With scattered glances I try and evade the smoke as it billows and redacts our last moments together

Twisting and straining in vex, I sit heavy in my thoughts of our foul affair

The reels spin and spill losing form to this world, the moments we shared on the screen devoured with fervor

I've choked on your name and gasped it before, now it'll die on my tongue raspy and hoarse

Did he let you share some time in our memories too? I wonder...

Is he smiling now with our bond torn asunder?

With hope for no other resolution I fill my lungs and succumb to the flames

What good was life without these dirty little games....
