Mother

poetry

When you speak of your daughter,

Nothing like me, like her father.

No pride comes for your lips,

Of the first that passed, between your hips.

She carries your smile,

Your looks,

Your hair,

Ignorance, stupidity she must be.

Like her father, quiet as can be.

Letting them ride all over her.

Speak! her mind tells her,

Not the right time out of line.

Shut your mouth not the time.

The fury built up inside.

Let it out she has tried,

shut down, not the right time.

To speak, her mind.

Permission from you she feels she needs,

Let any emotion flow with dignity.

Kept inside her mind, crazy she is, what you say daily.

Not the right time, ignorance

Doesn’t make any sense.

A mother now she is, her kids you tried to turn against her.

Like her father, she let her ride all over her.

Quiet as can be, she didn’t speak.

Hurt trying to make them see,

The truth of the love their mother had for them.

Now when she speaks, she has seen the expression.

The reaction of the ones around.

A phone call she feels she needs, to be told

You're nothing like me.

Like your father, quiet as can be.

Relationships she can not have, some type of jealousy.

Arises inside.

Protection please see. You say, so delightfully.

So she leaves, her love and her life behind for you.

Children of her own, lost and confused.

Listen, you say now you're free.

Just for my control.

Just for me.

Ignorance, stupidity she must be.

Like her father, quiet as can be.

Letting them ride all over her.

Speak! her mind tells her,

Not the right time out of line.
