Morning, Love

The little things...

Morning, Love

The touch of your hand

We're tangled in sheets

Sunlight's sweet glow

Lights the flush of your cheeks

A mourning dove's call

'fore late summer's scorch

The day yawning slowly

Your arms are my church

You take coffee black

I revisit dreams

A picturesque pattern

Together we're forming

I quit marking days

Begin marking moments

Committing to memory

This life that we've chosen

I finally wake

You're counting my freckles

Our fingertips brush

This body's your temple

My name like a prayer

It falls from your lips

My heart tumbles fast

My soul is bewitched

Each breath we exchange

Every thought, every wish

Is safe in our fortress

Just like we were kids

Now, pull me too close

And hold me too tight

It will never be enough

So I'm here, love, for life
