Moon Threnody
On Listening To The Music of The Heavens

Image Poetry - using the lines from the poem as prompts, I created images to complement my poem. I think the effect is interesting. I hope you will agree.
Moon Threnody

daddy sang me the secret song of the Moon in a round rich tenor

by virtue of distance the melody inaudible
a threnody lost to the heavens

but my daddy had heard it long ago, and sang it for me

on a sun strewn library floor squirming with excitement

coarse carpet squares, aggravating itch inconsequential

when holding in grubby palms rocks from the surface of our satellite

reverence temporarily struck me soundless

our Moon voyages steadfastly round us
as Voyager sailed dauntless through space

recording interstellar vibrations translated to sound
fantastical echoes from unfathomable dimensions

space prospectors were aghast to discover
the dark side of the Moon replete with inhuman cadence

unfamiliar harmonies invited trepidation

as the Moon turned his great aspect toward shaken supplicants

sometimes I dream of swimming between the stars

eternal moondust lapping at bottomless night

for I have heard the forbidden voices of the planets

writhing and straining in technology's snare

and if I should awaken adrift in the firmament

what horrifying wonders would he finally sing

as he turned his fearful face to me

and his true and terrible voice
drew my breath from my lungs

This piece was inspired by muse for the extremely unsettling music of the heavens, recorded by Voyager, hurtling through space.
