Migraines

To all who don't understand the severity of migraines and call them "bad headaches," it is important that when someone cancels plans or can't come into work because of a migraine, you treat them with the same level of sensitivity as they are feeling.

Late at night.

The street lamps of the suburbs are lighting the inside of the car so lightly, yet it’s burning a halo around my eyes and cheeks.

The sound of the keys in the ignition clanging against the car’s interior are creating a tick in my left eye and ear that just never becomes rhythmic.

With every bump in the road my head pounds and I feel dizzy.

I want to be sick.

I close my eyes but then the sounds become my only focus.

They become translated into neon shapes and colours in my eyelids.

I am trapped by my senses and unable to function.

I cannot think without my head overcrowding and my thoughts getting interrupted by triangles and swirls.
