Midnight strikes again

I remember when you and I were both young

In my mind

We begin again

dancing to the pink of the sky

and the black of the night

Your cheeks flushed the color of wine

Your lips on mine

I remember

that day

when we were both 23

drunken

losing sleep

wishing upon a star

We wanted to

but we never got far.

The stars twinkled in the night

like little signs of hopes and sighs

and for a time

New York City was yours and mine.

Midnight

will never leave me

forever lost in time

yours and mine.
