Methods of Healing

A Poem

Methods of Healing

I’ve thought of three ways to make the pain go away:

Let it in,

Let it out,

And start

a new day.

Doesn’t matter if it’s in my soul or in my head.

Letting it in is hard:

That’s the part

I dread.

It didn’t matter what I said or felt.

Letting it out was all it took

For you to tell me how to write

My own life out of a book.

The stories die out like cigarettes

The coffee

goes stale.

Starting a new day takes time,

To the point it

makes me grow pale.

What sickens me is not

the burden,

But the weight of consequences.

The mind awakens and

in doing so,

Heightens the senses.

I see what I touch

And I touch

what I feel.

Letting it in means letting it go

And letting it go

means

Waiting

for the sun to

Devour the snow.
