Memories please take my hand
And follow where I go.
For far too soon you’ll start to fade
And I will be alone.
I see it now in dreams I have
As they fade in and out
I try to hold them dear to me
But old age starts to shout!
“Memories it’s time to leave”
but what will I have left?
An empty heart, a simple gaze
A soul that is bereft.
So for today please take my hand
And guide me through the past
We’ll walk together one more time
Even though you will not last.
And when we meet next time my friend
When we hold hands again
My memories will all be new
And you’ll not leave me then.
So take my hand dear memories
And walk with me back home
Lets run together through open fields
Across prairies we will roam.
We’ll meet old friends and laugh with them
love those that are now gone
Swim in the dam, dance at the dance
And never be alone.
