Maybe in another life
A girl who prays for a way out
The young girl sits on porch steps,
With eyes that long to stray,
From parents strict and unyielding,
And a life that causes her endless turmoil every day
She watches cars go passing by,
And wishes she could trade,
To be anyone, anywhere,
To leave her troubles behind her to fade.
She closes her eyes and dreams,
Of lives that could be hers,
Of freedom and adventure,
And all the world's allures.
But when she opens up her eyes,
The world is still the same,
Her strict parents still are there,
And she remains to be constantly blamed
But still she dreams and wishes,
For a chance to break free,
And find a life that's filled with love,
And happiness, and glee.
