A bruise always changes colors before it heals.

"MANIFEST DESTINY"

Poem derived from my first completed journal, Black and Blue (2018-2019). Written May 22nd 2018.

~~~~~~~
I always thought I painted
the perfect picture of what an
irreplaceable man
looked, smelt, and felt like -
I laid my eyes on you, touched
your powerful locks that symbolize
the regal blood
running through your gorgeous brown skin,
and I pulled you closer with your firey
spirit dancing alongside mine.
Your scent made me feel at home,
something I couldn't feel with another soul that
my human body barely knew,
because I knew that in the moment
of omnipresent time
that our spirits were no strangers
to each other:
They're old friends,
lovers,
family rekindling a
transcendental flame that
other past spirits have tried to tame.
It was the perfect picture
which you are that my conscious mind
has manifested,
which is brand new to my naked eye:
And I take pride in being the one to bring to life
the immaculate composition
of these inconceivable shades
of beautiful combinations of browns,
reds, yellows and blues,
that I've been sketching,
painting,
drawing in my mind all along.
