It’s impossibly irritating,
The thoughts
Of others.
I try not to care.
An old dog says life ain’t fair.
We’re what I would consider
“Good” people
Accepting of all
Who do no serious harm.
I’ve always had trouble
With misrepresentation.
Those who don’t carry the capacity
To understand
Deeper levels
Of thought
And compassion
Walk behind you
Grumbling about what they chose
To not like about you
Based on whatever insecurity
Pushed them to such pettiness.
It’s not someone’s thoughts about me
that truly peels my skin back,
It’s the falsehoods,
The misunderstanding,
The utter lack of effort
To try and make it to
Someone else’s
Perspective.
I can’t rightly
Allow anyone to speak falsehoods
On my name.
I’m an artist.
A musician.
A person of the people.
My compassion goes as deep
As another is willing to swim.
Some just don’t like the water.
I was made for the waves.
