I.
Luna cringed
There was fear below,
Deep rooted,
Saved beneath the base
Of the oak trees,
Stored in swaying reeds
Of the ancient willow.
II.
Her gaze travelled,
Illuminated the world,
Fighting to bring light
To the darkness that encroached
Whenever her sister
Slumbered beneath the waves.
III.
Her beams
Created shadow
Among the forest,
Space for evil
To shelter and hide,
While innocent stumbled
To the beams to see,
To drive away fear
Birthed from instinct.
IV.
From afar,
Luna watched-
Each crime
Each victim
Stole a sliver,
Turning Luna
From whole
To nothing-
A blank sky
Awaiting its beacon.
V.
Blood rush
And broken glass,
The sure sign
The moon has vanished-
A chant rose
Through the void-
Luna's sister
Begs for her return,
A sun unable to heat
The broken pieces of
Fickle humanity
Without aid
Of her glowing half.
VI.
Luna heals,
Cleansing broken pieces
Beneath crashing waves,
The ocean abyss
Where human hands
Cannot find,
Until the day
The waves return
Her to whole
And she hangs in the sky,
Keeping watch
While her sister slumbers.
