Loves True Gift

A poem of love

My Love, I would ask you these questions:

When the day is hard and my mind and body fatigued,

When I am down and the whole world seems against me,

Will you be there?

When the money is spent and nothing to pay the rent,

When what food is left is but a crumb

Will you be there?

When my body fails and I ache with constant hard work,

When i’m ill with whatever burdens this frame.

Will you be there?

These words I speak I say for all to hear

As I need not see your lips part for your answers are quite clear

I see it in your eyes and in your touch

In the care you have for me and show me every day

When you call and when you laugh

Your deep concern when I am away

Love cannot be bought or sold

By its definition it cannot be bad or cruel, twisted or bent

And when its given, it is received

So there is no need for me to stop loving you

This I vow from now until eternity

I freely give as it is the one true gift
