Love at First Sight
By Ric Stone
Love at first sight was just something they said
But it never seemed so simple, up in my head
Even with all the love letters I’ve read
I still found myself, alone in my bed
No use in trying, it’s just too forced
Maybe that’s why marriage ends in divorce
How has my life even taken this course?
Perhaps expectations bring out the source
Then I saw you, like myself in the mirror
And never in my life, had it all been so clear
You looked in my eyes and your voice graced my ear
It was the very last voice, that I wanted to hear
Maybe it’s a product of the stories they told
But I just can’t help, that this feeling took hold
Together we’ll laugh, have kids, and grow old
10 years of mining… I’ve finally struck gold
Love at first sight was just something they said
Until I saw you and I had it instead
