Long Time Friends

I am alone, not a friend to share,

My place in solitude, through the windows i blindly stare;

Wondering fervently, what’s happened to me,

So much potential and possibility.

Success without friends is all for naught,

No point of having things, its friends i want;

But no one wants me, no one sees me,

Salvation is dim, no sight to be free,

But alas, I will share my burdens with the trees.

The trees hold stories of the people in our town,

Of people working to receive their fitness crown,

Of children skipping, running - they play,

Of a child vegan’s petition “no animal on your plate”,

Written largely on the walking path by chalk,

We configure our bodies to read as we walk;

But you can see the rustling of the trees in the wind,

Swaying in unison...recording history, within.

There are so many trees in our park’s society,

The gums, the oaks, the elms, just a few in a variety

I finished my walk, but His breath nudged my soul,

To open my inner eye to the glory; behold,

the beauty of the trees communing with Nature’s God,

With the lawn so green, so spacious and so broad.

For now, I find myself at peace, whole and complete

Thanks to my long time friends; the beauty of nature, and the trees.
