little prince
you've made my life make sense
a kiss on the cheek & you drift softly asleep
peacefully under the gaze of the stars. & i
stand blanketed by the moonlight until i sneak away
and you sleep quietly. i dare not wake you
your little face
a shadow caressed by the darkness
until morning comes and
the sun tickles your eyes awake.
a life lesson:
people will not always like you
but don't worry, people like that don't matter
and i love you enough for all of them.
in a world of conformity, do not be one who conforms
expression of identity becomes suffocated by
pressure to fit in. & that is unappealing.
one tight little snuggle & you run off to play
a professional chef in the kitchen
until you are overcome with a fit of giggles.
& if my boy wants
to be a girl
let him be
the prettiest girl
of them all
life experiences are not always pleasant. & as much
as i wish i could shield your innocent sweet little heart
you will lose your innocence
but i hope to god i will not lose my boy.
life is pain i dread the day you learn that.
rosy cheeks & absent-minded singing you're a wonder
gleeful bounds and leaps i implore
never lose that energy. it is a quality that will get you far
& i wish i could share it with you.
a hard truth:
there are some people you will never be good enough for.
& i do not want them to make you think
you are not good enough for anyone.
my dear my sweet
sometimes it is hard to tell who is telling you the truth
& who is lying
but you will learn to spend your time with those who
make you feel confident and respected
but the thing is
you must always make others feel confident and respected too.
& if my boy
falls in love
with a boy
i hope that boy
treats my boy well
do not be afraid to tell the truth. even if it is hard
it earns respect & i want you to be respected
no matter what. & always remember to respect yourself too.
you are a wonder you have changed my life
i loved you at first sight
