It sat on the corner tucked just off the street

A little brick house completely discreet.

If you didn’t look close you’d miss it completely

The little brick house existing soooo discreetly.

It had a brick driveway and a little red door

Nothing to prepare for the horrors in store.

The yard was kept neat the grass always cut

The windows and doors and exits locked shut.

The muffled screams did not carry far

Drowned out by a breeze or passing car.

The little brick house on the little brick street

Hiding such horrors so many secrets to keep.

It had two bed rooms and living room too

The basement was finished with cages you could see through.

He kept them in the cages so tight

Doing his experiments day into night.

The little brick house on the little brick lane

Was home to a mad scientist completely insane.

You’d never know this when walking your dog

Or taking the baby stroller out for a jog.

The house was nice and the owner so plain

If it wasn’t for that pesky smell which got stronger in the rain.

The first time the police came he met them on the porch with tea

They liked his charming attitude and never got past question three.

By the time the smell was over powering

The new detectives upon searching the house were sent cowering.

The makeshift lab and body parts

The blood stained rooms and “creations” to start.

Where all too much for a human to see

How could something so evil have gone unnoticed and free.

In the little brick house behind the pine trees

By the time they found his secret he was ready to flee.

It took months to identify the many remains.

Interviews with neighbors who were left baffled unable to explain.

How the little brick house on the little brick street

Could be home to such terror right next to them with in feet.

As for our mad scientist he’s still out where some where continuing his terror

So when looking for a new house buyer beware.

You never know who lives next to you

Could be a school teacher or a serial killer too.

So the next time you’re out in the neighborhood for a run

And you see the nice yards and the kids having fun.

Take moment and find the brick house on your street

The one with the quiet neighbor whose yard is just a little to neat.

Who is over polite and sickeningly nice

He just might be hiding some bodies on ice.
