Lighthouse Life

A Daydream

Sometimes I think a lighthouse

Is where I’m supposed to be

Living by myself

Just beside the sea

~

I’d watch waves curl and crash

Upon the jagged rocky shore

See whales swimming in the blue

Witness nature’s gifts galore

~

I’d probably have a seagull friend

His name would be good ol’ Hank

He’d come and see me every day

Before soaring by the banks

~

The only time I’d want to leave

Is in a roaring storm

I’d wonder why I ever moved there

Living all alone

~

Cracks of lightning would strike terror

Thunders' boom would hurt my ears

Waves would slam on lighthouse walls

I’d be crippled with fear

~

So perhaps the lighthouse life

Isn’t quite for me

But I will keep it locked inside my mind

To visit frequently

~~~
Pieces of Me ~ Poems by Heidi
In 2022, I came across a bin of my journals spanning many years. It was then that I realized I haven’t told people I enjoy writing or shared my work publicly. I decided to start.
