That flag represents where a veteran once sat
A veteran now gone leaving loved ones in loss
The sacrificed life, there’s no greater than that
To stand as the bridge until freedom can cross
We all owe a debt to these soldiers so proud
They fought for ideals that we wrote in a song
With dreams set aside to fulfill what they vowed
"One Nation Under God," did render us strong
Those blessed to return and continue with life
Are heroes each one as they answered the call
Marching past caskets to drummers and fife
They all gave us some but some others gave all
When slack with defending our God-given rights
We lose them to those more determined than we
Remember these soldiers, remember their fights
That flag on the table means freedom’s not free
