Leaves.
//
By Joe O'Banion written 10/25-10/27
Spring brings forth a wonder. Unraveling with the flowers they entrance and show beauty as they grow.
//
In the summer they shelter us with their shade, bringing refuge on sunny and rainy days, and we can't imagine life without them.
//
As autumn looms the leaves bring us one last glory. As we gather and marvel at the somber beauty that springs forth as the leaves prepare to leave us.
//
They then fall. A despair and an emptiness pierce the air. Winter descends and with it the cold dark days.
//
What of the leaves? What are we to do without their shelter? Their ever present guidance seems only replaced with bitter cold.
//
The knowledge that the leaves will return gives us hope to endure the emptiness without them.
//
Spring will again come forth. Loss is not forever. The leaves will return to again shelter us from both the harshest sun, and wettest rain.
