To keep it from knocking you down,
You lean into a gale.
Pain must be leaned into, also,
Our sorrows to assail.
—
As uninstinctive as it is,
We must embrace our hurt,
Or we'll be stuck right where we are:
Powerless, floored, inert.
—
The resistance makes us stronger;
Can push us all to grow.
If you're not afraid of suffering,
You'll learn more than you know.
—
So, look on pain with gentle eyes —
Your teacher on this Sphere.
Lessons of Love it will teach you
If you give up your fear.
