King of Hearts
When Typical is Critical
When typical seems critical, cynical becomes permissible; that's when I know I'm falling again.
Oddly enough, it leaves me disturbed, watching over and over as this repetition occurs; that's when I know I am falling again.
Soon, everything I'm supposed to do is distorted and blurred, as if I am holding a dictionary but can't find words; that's when I know I am falling again.
When it comes to love, I never really learned, so I sit patiently and wait my turn, not knowing if my feelings will become singed and burned; that's when I know I am falling again.
I often wonder if I should "hit" or "stay," but I realize too late that I am backstage and not even in the play.
What else is left but to continue to shuffle the deck.

They flip cards over til’ they reveal the king of hearts; that's when I know I'm falling again.
