Kerouac Came to the Rescue Again
A Poem by Logan Mang
In the middle of a strange transition period
The transition of two days of molly, drinking decadent amounts of beer, and consuming excess amounts of reefer
Second day of the transition. The strange feeling you get after a weekend like this,
The weekend that kind of foreshadows all the rest
The insanity of being uncomfortably, comfortably numb
And as I’m laying here in tender greens on a pillow feeling strange and wishing a lovely blonde was with me
Kerouac gave advice.
He told me that you can’t break your tenderness
Im still trying to decipher
The lost poets wisdom
It’ll come to me.
But I’m surrounded by strangers
The couple next to me on my left
Young dude with a French quaff, Young woman with a pony tail
I look diagonally to my right and see a poster of
A young woman in a pony tail
And a young dude with a French quaff
You couldn’t make this shit up even if you were in the middle of a strange transition period
